Belleville Residents Raise money for 9/11 Memorial
The City of Belleville will hold a ceremony Friday to remember the 9/11 attacks. The event comes as the city continues to raise funds to build a permanent 9/11 memorial in town.
Friday's ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Belleville Firehouse 4 at 1125 So. Illinois Street.
A 7,000-pound steel column from the World Trade Center will also be on view for the public to see.
However, for the last five years, there's actually been an effort in town to put that column on display in a permanent memorial.
